There is a huge movement going on in Bournemouth and Dorset at the moment, involving the music scene. Many promoters are coming on board with events that are seriously moving the music community up and the level of musicians appearing are phenomenal.
So we have teamed up with Strawberry Fields Presents and TLM to produce a platform that local promoters and musicians can use for aid, support, advice, access to funding or plain old promotional help. It has started with a website (www.dorsetmusic.com) in which anyone can log on and upload their own events from the Dorset area and will continue with a venue and many events involving industry professionals.
If you would like to get involved, go to www.dorsetmusic.com and log on. This will be updated with podcasts and interviews with industry professionals and important advice involving the music industry and its changes. It will also act as a hub that will enable people to see what is going on musically in Dorset at all times!!!
We will get in touch once you have signed up regarding our launch in October... it's gonna be great!
On Tuesday 29th July, Xavier Rudd comes to town to perform at The Opera House in Boscombe, presented by YDNA, Dorset Music Forum & Chris Jenkins. So, if you are like good food, want to chill out with music or are a band with a CD to sell, get yourselves down to Adam & Eve's in Landsdowne (Bournemouth) and get involved.

In May The Dorset Unsigned Music Awards climaxed with the final at 60 Million Postcards. It held 5 acts all competing for the award but obviously only one winner. The quality of music on the night was intense and appreciated by all but the decision was made by the runner of the Larmer Tree Festival who was giving the main prize.
His Decision finally laid on Chris Woodford, a 12 string guitarist with a variety of styles of playing. His set on the night was amazing and led the audience down a journey that impressed the judge enough to give him the award.
If you want to see more of Chris then go to
myspace.com/chriswoodfordmusic or search for him on Facebook.
He will be performing at The Larmer Tree Festival on the Saturday afternoon.
After nearly 6 months of heats and gigs we finally have the finalists for the Dorset Unsigned Music Awards 2008. They include:
Chris Woodford
Crystal Arcade
Machaca
Otto
Zuby
They will compete on 3rd May at 60 Million Postcards in Bournemouth for the chance to perform at the Larmer Tree Festival later this year. So come along to the final and support local live music!
We will release the results by the 5th May.
Andrea Soler who was amongst the semi finalists for this heat has already landed a place at The Lamer Tree Festival and has graciously pulled out of the competition to give someone else a chance to get the opportunity to play.
We would like to say congratulations to Andrea and thank you. The judges have gone over the alternative short list and Zuby has been moved into her place.
